I believe that it goes both ways. The government and individuals should work together to continue to keep the nations traditional values.

I think it would go in both ways. If individuals prioritize the preservation of their nation's traditional values, they should actively strive towards it. Collaboration and collective efforts are essential in this endeavor, as it cannot solely rely on the responsibility of an individual or a single group

It should be left to individuals. Times change, and what the people want for their country is most important. Preserving tradition is meaningless if it is not what the individuals want.

I think it should be both. If someone really cares about preserving their nation's traditional values, they'll work for it. They all can work together. It should be just one person's or one group's responsibility.

 @9HHBDV6answered…5mos5MO

the government should preserve traditional values in terms of being constitutional and supporting freedom in our country. yet our country is evolving and we should be open to changes, but not disrespectful to traditions that started our freedom.

Left to individuals. Personally, the need to try to "preserve your culture" against other cultures seems to be very different from "the great mixing pot" that America was supposed to be. It's good to connect to cultural heritage but not to push that on others.

 @9HFK55QRepublican from California answered…5mos5MO

That should be left to the individuals because that comes from the people and not from the government.

 @9HDLVZRRepublican from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

I believe that the role of the government is to do what is best for the people. "This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’" Jeremiah 6:16

A nations traditions live in its people, the government is not the keeper of the flame. The people decide what’s important to them not some politician.

 @9HF763M from Kansas answered…5mos5MO

That should be left to individuals. However, it is the government’s job to uphold and defend the US Constitution. Wherever that intersects with traditional values, the federal government has an obligation.

A nation will have to adapt as time goes by. We cannot apply every single traditional principle to today's world as the world has adapted and changed over time. The individuals residing in the country make up the countries values, so it should be their responsibility and the government's responsibility to monitor and ensure it is safe and progressive.

 @9HKC8C7 from North Carolina answered…5mos5MO

Left to the individual. We're literally built on immigrants... all of our ancestors moved here. Moreover, we're literally built on the freedom to be ourselves, whether it be speech or religion, and so should have out own values. Also, most of these "traditional values" are religious, which isn't very "freedom of religion".

Is up to the individuals. The people make the culture not to government. The government just mandate people. And the United States is full of different people all of us are immigrants all of us are gonna have a lot of traditions and it’s going to change. Overtime we will not have the same traditions and that’s OK. But our traditional values shouldn’t stay the same because we are evolving from that. Instead we should evolve the traditional values with todays standards

As well as the fact that the right to practice any kind of relegion, but that should be left to the choice of individuals.
